The Lunar Lantern Festival is celebrated on the fifteenth day of the first month in the lunisolar year in the lunar calendar or the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration. Not to be confused with the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is sometimes also known as the “Lantern Festival” in Singapore and Malaysia, the Lunar Lantern Festival is a commemorated by children carrying paper lanterns to the temples at night and solving riddles on the lanterns. It officially ends the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Thanks to the Sponsorship by the St. Jude’s Women Auxiliary, the primary grade students of Clark County School District will be constructing paper lanterns with their “wish” for 2013 and will hang them in the Fremont Street Experience.
